Netopia recently launched DOTA Challenge.  So easy to join as there is NO REGISTRATION FEE required. This August to September, DOTA aficionados can test their skills at any of the sixty (60) participating Netopia branches as they get to compete with the other contenders.  Cluster Champions will receive P8,000.00 while the cluster runner-up will get P2,000.00.

 Event Details

Game Settings

1.     Version: Warcraft III Frozen Throne expansion set v.1.24e

2.     Map: DOTA ver 6.72F (or the latest stable map in getdota.com)

3.     Matches will be done using LAN connection

4.     Remote matches will be done through Garena

Teams

1.     Each Netopia branch must have at least ten (10) teams

2.     Five (5) members per team with a maximum of one (1) substitute

3.     One team member is designated as the Team Captain and will be in charge of registering and representing the whole team in confirmation of results and technical discussions

Registration

1.    NO registration fee

2.    Each team member must fill up a registration card

3.    Each team member just need to log 10 hours of internet usage at the branch where they are registered

Teams and Challenge Master

a.    Minimum of ten (10) teams per Challenge.

b.    After completion of 10 internet usage hours per team member, teams will be listed.  Match up of teams will be determined via raffle. Schedule of competition will be announced through team captains and will also be posted at the branch.

c.    Players should be ready before the agreed match time, if one team is incomplete or is not able to make it to the venue, the other team wins by default.

d.    A Netopia personnel will be assigned as Challenge Master who will preside over technical discussions and will also make decisions should there be disputes.  The Challenge Master should also watch the game carefully and note as many details as possible (Games should be saved after first blood, after every 10-15 minutes and after every crucial turn of events).

Mechanics and Game Rules

1.    Champion and Runner-up per cluster with receive P8,000.00 and P2,000.00 respectively.  Best of three (3) format applies to determine the Champion.

2.    Best of three (3) applies during elimination rounds.  The top 2 teams per branch will compete with top two teams from other branches in the cluster to determine the Cluster Champion and Runner-up.

3.    In cases when teams are coming from different locations, toss-coin will be used to determine the venue of games.

4.    Maximum of one hour game time for every match to destroy opponent's Frozen Throne/World Tree.  In case the match does not finish in one hour, the following shall be the basis in determining the winner:

a.    Number of opponent’s towers destroyed

b.    Total kills of the team

5.    Use of Delay Reducer (DR) is optional (if all team captains agree)

6.    The following actions are NOT ALLOWED in the game:

a.    Back-dooring (optional)

b.    Suicide act to pass the Rapier

c.    Intentionally trapping enemies into trees or holes (optional)

d.    Creep blocking with use of spells is also not allowed (i.e. fissures, sprout and the like)

e.    Passing of weapons/items to their co-players/teammates (optional)

f.     Pausing without any valid reason

g.    Resuming the game without the other team’s confirmation.

Optional – depends on the agreement between teams

7.    The following actions are ALLOWED during the game:

a.    Any war key or Dotakey is allowed to be used during the tournament.

b.    To compensate for disconnections, teams on board are encouraged to save their games frequently during a match (every 5-10 minutes).

c.    In case save was not done after the ban/pick process, teams must take a screen shot with open scoreboard or save the replay; the match has then to be remade in-app. Mode with the same heroes/lanes.

d.    Both teams have the right to request a save after big team collisions and when at least one building was destroyed.

e.    For every remake, players have to pick the same batch of heroes and buy the same items and must go to the same starting lane.

f.     It is ALLOWED to use a disconnected hero, but it is NOT ALLOWED to give items to other players. The items may either stay with the disconnected hero or be sold.  The money can be distributed or allocated among the remaining players.

8.    Warning, Game Lost or Disqualification:

a.    Participants who experienced any abnormal game play MUST immediately inform the Challenge Master.

b.    NOTE: BUGS refer to anything abnormal which will cause interruption or fatal error to the game that will for a player/team an unfair advantage.

c.    Another option for DC player/s is to save its game in a different filename for backup purposes. However, if in case the saved file fails to be loaded, Challenge Master will have all the rights to decide whether to remake the game or not.
