 The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) through Netopia Internet Café has initiated a campaign aimed at improving IT literacy among the youth in the country. The organization has chosen Caritas Manila to be the recipient of IT Literacy Scholarship Grant. The outreach program was dubbed “Help Kids Become Like You”. For only P500 a member of the PMAP can already help send a Caritas youth to take the Microsoft iCafe eLearning Program at Netopia and eventually earn Microsoft Angat Ka! Certificate of Completion, an internationally recognized certification. Every Caritas youth scholar is generously given 15 hours to take and finish the eLearning course at the nearest Netopia branch.

 

Slated on the PMAP Annual Conference held in the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in September 2009 the organization was able to raise funds to send 33 Caritas youth scholars to take the program. Scholarship Certificates was formally turned over by Netopia President and CEO George Tan to Caritas Manila Executive Director Father Anton Pascual in December 2009.

 

The Microsoft iCafe eLearning Program is an Advance Online Computer Training tackling various Microsoft Office Applications including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint among others. With this training PMAP believes that lives of youth will be much rewarded hence they can now apply these helpful and convenient software programs to their learning advantage. The eLearning content is exclusively accessible at Netopia. In the world only Thailand and the Philippines have exclusive access to the Microsoft iCafe eLearning portal with Netopia for the Philippines as the official partner that only has access to the portal and content.
